THE INSPIRED WORD OF GOD (CONTINUED)

Last week we discussed the fact that the Bible demonstrates that it is from God. We asked the
question, “How does this demonstration take place?” We suggest that it occurs in the following
three ways:
1. You will not find one contradiction in the pages of the Bible. No other book can make
this claim. Here is a book which contains sixty-six books--39 Old Testament and 27 New Test- ament--written by about forty different men over a period of about 1600 years--by men, who for
the most part, didn’t know one another, who came from all different backgrounds. Some of these
men were kings, statesmen, priests, physicians, fishermen, tax collectors. Yet, despite all these
diversities, the Bible is still a book of perfect harmony. The unity of the Bible is proof beyond
any doubt that it is from God and not from men.

2. Fulfilled prophecy is also proof of inspiration. Although we could literally show exam-
ple after example of fulfilled prophecy for proof, let us look at this one factor: the prophecies

concerning Jesus Christ. The Old Testament has over 300 prophecies about Him, and all of them
have been fulfilled to the letter. Peter Stone, a mathematician, chose eight of these to calculate
the odds of them being fulfilled and noted that the odds were one in one times 10(17) that one man
could have fulfilled these eight--and this does not even touch the other 292+ prophecies. Another
point along this line of reasoning is that twenty-four of these prophecies were fulfilled in a
twenty-four hour period. Man simply could not have demonstrated beforehand such knowledge
as this--the Bible is without a doubt from God.
3. The fact that the Bible is still with us after the countless number of folks who have tried
to destroy it, is in itself proof that the Bible is beyond the human mind to produce.
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK: The highest rate of interest is paid on borrowed trouble!
Have a great week!

Love ya,
Jesse
