CRITICISM

There is not enough criticism in the world to cause one to fall. To be sure everyone who tries
to do anything will be criticized. But criticism is just the other fellow’s opinion of what we are,
and need not having any lasting effect on our behavior. The fact that one criticizes you doesn’t
mean that what you are doing is wrong. It may mean that he does not know as much about what
you are doing as you do. One need not give up or be hurt simply because one criticizes what he
does. If we will be sure that we are right and go ahead--regardless of the reaction of others--we
can never really lose. After all, God is still our Protector in these matters (as well as in others):
“For the eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, And his ears unto their supplication: But the
face of the Lord is upon them that do evil (1 Pet. 3:12). God’s people have no darkness to fear as long as they keep their candle burning. “Even so let
your light shine before men; that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is
in heaven” (Matt. 5:16). It is certainly true that “Ye are the light of the world. A city set on a hill
cannot be hid. Neither do light a lamp, and put it under the bushel, but on the stand; and it
shineth unto all that are in the house” (Matt. 5:14-15). Dear reader, do you allow criticism to keep you from doing what you know is right? Such
ought not so to be. If you are sure you are right according to God’s Word, then go ahead and do
it. You will in this way be pleasing to God and secure your soul’s salvation for eternity.
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK: A person who merely samples the Word of God never really
acquires much of a taste for it.
Have a great week!

Love ya,
Jesse
