HAPPY PEOPLE

It is almost a universal fact that all people seek happiness and shun sadness. You may come
across an exception now and then, but such is a true rarity. Who are happy people? They are not:
1. Their own person. We are talking about the self-made person. Self-made people have a
tendency to worship their creator. By that, we simply man that they worship themselves.
2. The world’s person. The people of the world drink from the fountains of lust, greed, brute
strength, etc. The world’s people worship the world’s goods (much like the rich fool, “And I will
say to my soul, Soul, thou has much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink,
and be merry” [Luke 12:19]) and are conformed to the ways of the world. The Christian is not to
do this: “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a
living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service. And be not fashioned
according to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, and ye may prove
what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God” (Rom. 12:1-2). 3. Happy people are God’s people:
 They are in God’s kingdom (Col. 1:13).  They live to do the will of God (Eccl. 12:13).  They are saved by the grace of God (Eph. 2:8-10).  They study the word of God (Psa. 1:1-2).  They know all of God’s commandments are for their good.
 When they became God’s people, all their sins were forgiven (Acts 2:38).  When they became God’s people, a new relationship was begun in Christ (Gal. 3:26-27).  God’s people have the promise of being supplied all the necessities of life (Matt. 6:33).  God’s people enjoy the promise that all things work together for good (Rom. 8:28). When you stop and think about all these things, is it any wonder that God’s people--both men
and women are happy?!?
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK: Fear not tomorrow--God is already there!

Love ya,
Jesse
