IS IT PLEASING TO GOD?
Often what is pleasing to man is unpleasing to God. God said His ways are not our ways (Isa.
55:8). Regardless of how popular some ideas of men may be, God and His Word are always
right. We read in Romans 3:4, “God forbid: yea, let God be found true, but every man a liar; as
it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy words, And mightest prevail when thou comest
into judgment.” If there is a contradiction between the popular ideas of man and the Word of
God, guess which one is right! God’s Word. ALWAYS! And if such a contradiction occurs guess
which one is wrong! Man’s popular ideas. EVERY TIME!
It is popular to say, “The conscience is a safe guide.” The unpopular truth is that a person’s
conscience can lead that person astray. The conscience can be “seared” (1 Tim. 4:2). One man
in good conscience even persecuted Christians! Who was this man? The apostle Paul (Acts
23:1). The truth regarding the conscience (although it is unpopular) is this: It is not a safe guide
unless it is educated and guided by the Word of God!
It is popular to say, “Everyone has a right to be wrong.” If this is spoken in regard to politics,
we agree that everyone has the right to believe as they choose. But this is not true when it comes
to matters of faith, salvation and religion. If heaven is our goal, we must choose to believe only
what the Bible says. Jesus said we will be judged by His Word--not by man’s ideas: “He that re-
jecteth me, and receiveth not my sayings, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I spake, the
same shall judge him in the last day” (John 12:48). Dear reader, Which will save us: error or truth? It is far better to be unpopular with men
(even friends and relatives) and love and hold to the truth, than to be popular with men and be-
lieve a lie. Please take the time to read 2 Thessalonians 2:10-12. Which will it be with you? Let
us seek to do that which is pleasing to God. ALWAYS!
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK: When in doubt, tell the truth--in fact, tell the truth always--that will
remove all doubt!
Love ya,
Jesse
