THE BIBLE, GOD'S WORD

There is no book in the world like the Bible. Sadly many folks do not believe that the Bible
came from God and it is for sure they do not believe what it says. Some men (and women) say
that “men just got together and wrote it. God had nothing to do with it.” However, we are
familiar with books that men have written. Such books are like their authors--perishing,
erroneous and contradictory. Strictly human books approve things that folks find pleasurable,
while the Bible disapproves things that many folks would love to do.
Stop and think about that! Worldly lifestyles, materialistic outlooks on life, loose morals
codes and conduct, etc., are often promoted by human authors, but the Bible condemns any but
the proper forms of behavior. Living that is acceptable to God is “godly.” Consider Titus 2:11-

12: “For the grace of God hath appeared, bringing salvation to all men, instructing us, to the in-
tent that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly and righteously and

godly in this present world;” There is also Romans 12:1-2, “I beseech you therefore, brethren,
by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is
your spiritual service. And be not fashioned according to this world: but be ye transformed by
the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of
God.”

Godly living begins with obeying the gospel (Acts 18:8). If men alone wrote the Bible, don’t you think they would have written it differently? The Bi-
ble is divine because it condemns too many things humans hold dear and approves too many

things that humans ordinarily find repulsive. Truly, “...men spake from God, being moved by the
Holy Spirit” (2 Pet. 1:21). Another point: If men alone wrote the Bible, why aren’t more books and chapters being
written and added to it all the time? And why wouldn’t that be acceptable? The simple answer?
Because the Bible was not written by men alone! Someone has well said, “If a man (or a woman
for that matter) is not familiar with the Bible, he (or she) has suffered a loss which he (or she)
had better make all possible haste to correct.”
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK: Ability is what will get you to the top--if you can’t marry the
boss’s daughter!

Love ya,
Jesse
