YOU CHOOSE!

Every confession of love for God and Jesus falls flat on its face when it is hobbled by disobed-
ience. True, genuine love for God and His Son motivates respect for God’s Word and obedience to
His commands. Perfect love becomes evident only when one is willing to obey without question that
which our God demands! “But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily hath the love of God been per-
fected” (1 John 2:5). True love seeks the path of obedience in order to be well pleasing unto God.
Such love delights in compliance with God’s terms of pardon and offers no argument against doing
so. “Then they that gladly received his word were baptized...” (Acts 2:41, KJV). True love will
never manifest itself in an obstinate refusal of God’s terms of forgiveness and branding them as
“nonessential” and arguing that “We can be saved without such obedience!” You choose the condi-
tion of your heart!
An eternal divine principle was given unto King Saul: “Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice,
and to hearken than the fats of rams” (1 Sam. 15:22). Don’t try to convince God of your love and
devotion while refusing to obey Him!!! Our loyalty and obedience to God’s Word is evident proof
of our love, and we can manufacture no acceptable substitute!
You choose! Does God want you to just exist and put in your time? Certainly not! God wants
you to have meaning and purpose in life. It must all begin with a faith that leads to repentance, con-
fessing Christ to be God’s Son, and being baptized into Christ! This begins the new life, but to carry
out God’s purpose one must live faithfully. Have you allowed sin to distort your influence as a
Christian? You need to repent, confess your sins to God and pray for forgiveness. Think about it.
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK: Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to the known God.
Have a great week!
Love ya,
Jesse
