HONEST HEARTS ARE HOPEFUL HEARTS
Jesus said, “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God” (Matt. 5:8). David prayed,
“Keep back thy servant from presumptuous sins: let them not have dominion over me: then shall
I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression. Let the words of my mouth and
the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer”
(Psa. 19:13-14).
Secret sins dwell in dishonest hearts. If we have secret sins let us not deceive ourselves: God
knows all about those sins. Other may find them out. We, too, know of them and we do have to
live with ourselves. “If we say that we have fellowship with him and walk in the darkness, we lie,
and do not the truth: but if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with
another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanseth us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin,
we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and right-
eous to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have
not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us” (1 John 1:6-10).
Yes, honest hearts are hopeful hearts. “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he...” (Prov. 23:
7). “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life” (Prov. 4:23). Jesus said,
“The good man out of his good treasure bringeth forth good things: and the evil man out of his
evil treasure bringeth forth evil things” (Matt. 12:35). He also said, “And that in the good
ground, these are such as in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, hold it fast, and
bring forth fruit with patience...For nothing is hid that shall not be made manifest; nor anything
secret that shall not be known and come to light.” (Luke 8:15, 17). Dear reader, which is it with
you? Do you have a good, honest, hopeful heart OR is your dishonest heart filled with secret
sins? Only YOU can answer that question.
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK: Too many people confuse free speech with loose talk!
Have a great week!
Love ya,
Jesse
