HERE WE STAND
Let us speak where the Bible speaks and remain silent where it is silent. Nothing should be made a
test of fellowship or communion that is not expressly stated in God’s Word. Proper distinction should
be made between the Old and New Testaments, realizing that the religious system set forth in the Law
of Moses ended at the cross (Eph. 2:14-15; Col. 2:14).
Terms of salvation under the Gospel include: 1) Hearing that Christ died for our sins, was buried
and rose triumphant the third day after (1 Cor. 15:1-4); 2) Believing in Jesus as the Christ, the divine
Son of God (John 8:24); 3) A willingness to confess this faith before men (Rom. 10:10); 4) Repent-
ing of all sin to henceforth seek after and obey the will of the living Godhead (Luke 13:3); and 5) Be-
ing baptized (immersed) as Jesus commanded in His great worldwide commission (Matt. 28:18-20;
Mark 16:15-16).
Upon the first day of the week each congregation of the Lord’s church assembles together to hear
the Word of God, to unite in prayer, to sing hymns of praise and spiritual songs, to make a voluntary
contribution and to partake of the Lord’s Supper as a memorial to Christ’s perfect sacrifice (Acts 20:7).
Christ Himself is the only Head over His spiritual body, the church (Eph. 1:22-23; Col. 1:18). No
other organizational structure--no earthly headquarters or hierarchy--no man or group of men to serve
as self-appointed “bosses.” Each local congregation is autonomous (self-ruling) under the authority of
Christ as revealed in the New Testament.
The Christian’s life should be cultivated by diligent Bible study, daily prayer, faithful worship and
fellowship with the church, avoiding worldly and sinful practices and growing the fruit of the Spirit as
listed in Galatians 5:22-26.
Jesus the Christ is our High Priest, being the one and only mediator between God and men. All of
God’s people constitute a spiritual “priesthood” (1 Pet. 2:9). We stand on these things and refuse to be
moved from them by those on the right or the left of the Truth.
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK: Folks who are thoughtless are seldom wordless.
Have a great week!
Love ya,
Jesse
